WHO AM I ?
I received my Ph.D. in chemistry in 1997 at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. I have led teaching and research activities at different universities in Italy, The Netherlands, Germany, and now in the UK. I am fascinated by the study of nature with theoretical models and computation. My scientific research is focused on the study of molecular systems of biological interest using the technique of Molecular Dynamics simulation. I have developed a server for the statistical analysis at the amino acid level of the effect of random mutations induced by random mutagenesis methods. I have a long experience in teaching activities in subjects ranging from mathematics, physics, physical chemistry, computational chemistry, and molecular modeling. I am also active in communicating science for didactic purposes in the areas of physical chemistry, computational chemistry, and molecular modeling. I have several other interests and hobbies such as video/photography, robotics, computer vision, electronics, programming, microscopy, entomology, recreational mathematics, and computational linguistics.

MY RESEARCH
In my blog you will find also information about my research. More information on my current project can be find here. If you are interested to work on a PhD thesis based on my project, I can only consider, at the moment, applications from self-funded prospective home and international PhD students. In this case, you are welcome to send me a CV to: droccatano (at) lincoln (dot) ac (dot) uk.
